07/30/2016 5 takeaways from #SMBuzzChat on podcasting
1. Podcasts can be great for brands

Would you listen to an official Cineworld podcast that instead of just sell, sell, sell was more discussion led and gave you sneak peaks at upcoming films? Of course you would. Any brand could have a podcast; it just needs to be a perfect mix of content and ultimately, exposure.

07/26/2016 Choosing a Microphone for Podcasting
Listeners often judge a podcast by its sound quality. No matter the format or topic of your podcast, your listeners are comparing your sound to what they hear on the radio and other podcasts produced by major broadcast outlets. Ironically, your goal is to make your podcast sound so good that no one notices how it sounds. If people notice the sound, there’s probably something wrong with it.

Fortunately, the equipment and techniques needed to produce a professional-sounding podcast are affordable and available.

07/20/2016 Amazon wants to become the Netflix of podcasts
One of the great things about podcasts, aside from a vast and varied selection of great content, is that everything is free for the taking. Whether you’re prone to listening to NPR, breakdowns of your favorite TV shows or even the latest sports happenings, there’s no pay-to-play scheme associated with podcasts. Unfortunately, Amazon now has plans to change that.

07/18/2016 Podcasting Has an Ad Skipping Problem
Web advertisements face ad blockers. The DVR lets viewers bypass television commercials. Now, podcasts must contend with the 15-second skip button.

The decade-old podcast industry has been reawakened in the past two years as producers create new shows and more listeners tune in on their mobile devices and in their cars. But advertising growth has been limited by difficulties in audience measurement, and the podcast world is grappling with the same phenomenon rampant across rival media: ad-skipping.

07/09/2016 How To Use Interview-Based Podcasting in Sales Prospecting
Not only do podcasts offer numerous benefits over text- and video-based content—they are easy to create, convenient to consume, and they can expose new audiences to your brand— but by using an interview-based show format, your podcasts can also be fantastic social selling, networking and sales prospecting tools.

Why Do Interview Podcasts Work?
Think about it. People just love talking about themselves! Everyone knows that the best conversationalists are the people who say the least and ask the most. In the format of an interview podcast, that is exactly what you are doing.

07/07/2016 NPR Expects to More Than Double Its Podcast Revenue This Year

07/05/2016 Stitcher Sold
Stitcher, the platform that has helped turn millions of people into podcast lovers, has officially traded hands and now has a new owner.

The E.W. Scripps Company announced recently that it has acquired the podcast-focused company for a cool $4.5 million, which seems like a fairly low figure considering how popular Stitcher is. In fact, with over eight million registered users, that amounts to around half a dollar per user, which could be considered a deal when it comes to bulking up the total user count for Scripps. The newly-purchased service will become a part of already-established Midroll Media, which Scripps also owns, and all twelve Stitcher employees will also be brought over to the podcast advertising network as well.

06/30/2016 This Could Be the Future of Podcasting
It also was not in the slightest bit mainstream: according to Edison Research, in 2006 only 22% of Americans were even familiar with the term podcasting, and only 11% had ever listened to one. Both numbers have slowly but steadily grown over the years (55% have heard of podcasting as of this year, and 36% have listened to one, and there actually isn’t a readily apparent ‘Serial’ bump), aided in large part by the smartphone: by removing the need to sync with iTunes it was much easier to have fresh podcasts at the ready. Still, there remained the challenge of creating compelling content, discovering content worth listening to, retaining listeners and, of course, paying for it all.
